Ladies and Gentlemen, we would like to present to you the Inter Academy Rockers Boys' 2014 Socal Flight 3 South Champions! After a long, well-fought battle, the Inter Academy Rockers 2014 won the league title in style.
Week after week, it seemed the opponents grew tougher, and the boys faced a challenging bracket with high-level competition. Teams like Slammers FC, CFA Stambouli, San Clemente Surf, Socal Reds, and Pateadores were just a few of the incredible teams they battled.
The boys were never outplayed and stood strong against these considerable clubs. The defense was the backbone of the team, with Adam Semrin, Jayden Flores, Jayden Chavez, and goalkeeper Jonathan Linares leading the charge. The team played a 1-3-4-1 formation, with 3 defenders, 4 midfielders, and 1 forward. Honorable mention goes to Abraham Gurolla and Dylan Iraheta, who occasionally played in defense when needed.
Our midfield worked tirelessly, covering every inch of the field with intensity, especially when it mattered the most. Iker Robles and Abraham Gurolla shared the central midfield role, while Ohsuke Sugatani played on the left and Dylan Iraheta on the right. Up front, Mateo Gudino and Raul Feria, our leading goal scorer, were instrumental in our attacking strategy.
Other players who contributed significantly were Ila Tack, who played right midfield, and Sorena Hosseini, who alternated between forward and midfield. Hercules (aka Eddie Ayala) was invincible in the midfield, controlling play and helping the team maintain momentum. All players stepped up when needed, and their efforts were key to our success.
It took time for the boys to adapt to a new coach, a new system, and a new style of play. They learned tactical defense and how to understand the strategy for each game. The training sessions were crucial in preparing for the league, and the team’s collective improvement was evident with every match.
The final three games were crucial, as each one of them felt like a final. To win the title, the boys had to beat CFA Stambouli, Slammers FC, and San Clemente Surf. They won with scores of 4-1, 2-0, and 4-0, respectively. With only 1 goal conceded and 10 goals scored, they swept through the final matches and secured the league title in a dominant fashion. What an incredible way to finish the season showing both scoring power and mental toughness.
Throughout it all, the boys showed class, sportsmanship, and determination.
