Three Inter Academy Rockers teams hit the field this past weekend at the PATS Cup and the Orange County Summer Invitational — and in every case, the assignment was the same: play up a flight, get uncomfortable, and find out exactly where the next step in development needs to happen.
BU09 competed in Bracket A of the PATS Cup against older, more experienced competition. The scoreline swung both directions — a 12-2 result against FC Golden State BU09 White showed real progress in possession and finishing, while matchups against Pateadores SC and Inland Surf Premier were the kind of games that expose gaps fast. That's the point. Our players came away with a clear picture of the speed and physicality waiting for them at the next level.
At the Orange County Summer Invitational, BU10 Black and BU14 took on the same challenge. BU10 Black mixed strong moments — including a 13-2 result against 1570 FC — with tight, competitive matches against West Coast FC Orange and BU10 Navy Hernandez, the kind of back-and-forth that tests composure as much as skill. BU14 faced a tough flight that included Pateadores FC ECNL and Rangers FC South, top-tier competition that pushed our players to adjust and problem-solve in real time.
None of these results define the summer. Every one of these teams stepped up a level on purpose, and every game — win, loss, or dogfight — is data: what worked, what didn't, and what we're building toward heading into the fall. That's the standard at Inter Academy Rockers. We don't chase easy wins. We chase growth.
